Crossed Fronds

While the palm branches speak to us of the triumphal parade, the crossed formation of these fronds hints at the pain of a sacrificial death on a cross, soon to become a stark reality in contrast to the exuberance of the parade.

The rose is a symbol of unconditional love, the symbol of all that is good and just in Jesus.  The advent carol, "Lo, how a rose e're blooming ..." suggests this epitomy of love as his birth is anticipated

Sacrificial Doves

Jesus reacted to the injustice of the high price charged those who had come from to the city without their own birds to offer as a sacrifice.  In his anger he knocked over the cages and the birds escaped.
