The Walk to Emmaus
This panel depicts another resurrection appearance -- this time to two disciples. In the lower pane we see two disciples walking to the village of Emmaus. On the way they are joined by a third person, the resurrected Christ, although they do not recognize him.
As the trio approach the village, they invite their guest to join them at table. In the upper pane we see the three friends breaking bread -- and at that moment the two discover that their friend is, in fact, the risen Christ.
